True Blue Stories

In the fiery aftermath of the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center, the New York City Police Dept and Port Authority Police suffered the worst loss of life in the history of American Law Enforcement. Las Vegas Police Sergeant Randy Sutton felt the grief and sadness that permeated the ranks of American Law Enforcement Officers across the country and it was through that sense of loss and pain that the idea for Sutton's first book was born. "TRUE BLUE Police Stories by Those Who Have Lived Them" was a compilation of stories written by Police Officers from all over the United States. Sutton wanted to "create a monument from the words" of those Officers and show the people of America the true heart of it's Law Enforcement Officers . Sutton asked the Officers of small towns, big cities, rural Sheriff's Departments to Federal Agencies to share stories from their careers that would truly show the depth of their experiences.

What resulted was an amazing collection of heartfelt stories that travelled the length and breadth of What an American cop experiences. From tragic tales of loss and pain to remarkable tales of courage and compassion the collection also featured first person accounts from cops who were at the scene of the World Trade Center attack. 	In 2005, St. Martins Press released what some have called "the ultimate depiction of the hardest job there is." "A COP'S LIFE" chronicled the career of Randy Sutton through a series of his short stories that traveled from the sleepy college town of Princeton New Jersey where he began his career as a small town cop to the neon bathed , bullet riddled streets of Las Vegas. Publishers Weekly wrote "Brilliantly evokes the tormented inner life of the Average Cop" and many police academies assign the book as mandatory reading to prepare their young officers for what lies ahead. 	Sutton's third book, TRUE BLUE To Protect and Serve" was released by St. Martins in 2008 and Sutton dedicated that book to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund in Washing D.C. Sutton was inspired to create the second in the "TRUE BLUE" series while attending the services at the Law Officers Memorial Monument where the names of every American Law Enforcement Officer who has been killed in the line of duty are engraved upon the monument.
